How to Use the DU Forum
The DU Forum is the one area on DirectionsU.com that requires a separate login and password. To use the forum, make sure that you register separately!
If you don't see "Hey, _______" with the blank being filled in with your user name in the upper left corner of this page (just below the line of links that start with "Home", "Forum", "Help", etc.), then you either aren't logged in or you haven't registered.
I'm checking the forum at least daily and I'd love to have questions that I can answer for you! Feel free to post them in the "General Discussion" area or in an area more pertinent to your question!
Blogging can be one of the most fun, powerful (and profitable!) tasks you undertake in your business online. BUT ... and this is a BIG but ... it can also be one of the most confusing, most frustrating actions you'll ever get started on, too.
Not to worry, though! There are a number of resources that can make it easier for you and, at the same time, can help you to get better results!
Before we get to them, a few words of caution to get you started in the right direction ...
First off, do NOT use Blogger! Many marketers mistakenly think that because Blogger is owned by Google, this automatically equates to great search engine rankings when you start a Blogger blog. This is NOT true! In fact, it's a complete falacy!
If you want great results from your blogging efforts, you most certainly want to use a WordPress blog. When I say "WordPress blog", I am NOT talking about a blog that resides on a subdomain of www.WordPress.org. What I am talking about is a blog built on the WordPress platform that is installed on YOUR website -- preferably on the index page of your main site.
So, if your site is www.YourDomainName.com, you want to install your blog on www.YourDomainName.com and NOT on www.YourDomainName.com/blog.
If you already have a website on your domain, then simply move your index page to a folder and then install WordPress on your root directory. So, if your index pages is a sales letter for an ebook about growing better roses, you could move it to www.YourDomainName.com/better-roses (you want to use keywords in your folder name).
If you already have a website on your domain AND you've already set your blog up in the /blog folder, then move your index page to a folder as directed above and then, on your index page, create a redirect that forwards visitors to your blog. Now, when people go to www.YourDomainName.com, they will automatically be forwarded to www.YourDomainName.com/blog.
Ok -- that's enough about where to install your blog and what platform to use, now how do you go about getting results from your blogging efforts?
The first place to start is to read the lesson located in "Step 4 - Creating Your Web Presence" for the 30-Day IM Challenge. In it, you'll find information on setting up your blog, writing powerful posts that get results, building a list with your blog, making sales from your blog (i.e. monetizing your blog), and driving traffic to your blog.
If you want bigger results, faster from your blogging efforts, then download "21 Days to Blogging Profits", a multi-media course that contains not only the step-by-step process that you'll want to follow to get a steady stream of laser-targeted visitors to your blog in 21 days or less, but also shows you more than 6 different models to use to monetize your blog. It even provides you with flowcharts, checklists, and other materials to make it drop-dead simple to implement all of the strategies. And, you'll find audios, videos, and even PowerPoint presentations that literally SHOW YOU how to build a list and make money with your blog.
Once your blog is up and running, it can help you build a list in more ways than one! One of the greatest parts of having a blog is that you can use it to promote stuff as an affiliate. That means that you can also use your blog to promote Joint Venture Giveaways -- you know, those sites that have a ton of marketers who all get together, give away free stuff, and in return, build lists by the thousands in less than a week or two. Ordinarily, only those who already have a list can participate in a Giveaway of this type because they're required to promote the site in order to keep their gifts in the promotion and eligible for having others opt in to download. When you have a blog, you have a way to promote a Giveaway even if you have no list! And I'll even show you exactly how to build a list of 5,000, 10,000 or more subscribers in less than a month using this strategy! Download "Giveaway Secrets of The JV Queen" today and learn how many of my members were able to use this strategy to build lists of more than 10,200+ subscribers in under 30 days using their blogs!
Once your blog is up and running, it's a matter of merely using your blog to drive as much traffic to it as possible. Then all you have to do is become a "traffic director" to use your blog strategically to funnel traffic to the appropriate place or product you have to offer. It's really that simple! Social marketing (things like social bookmarking, social networking, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, and more!) is one of the best ways to drive traffic to your blog. You'll find a complete set of social marketing videos that will show you precisely how to use 7 of the most powerful social media sites on the net at http://www.theimuniversity.com/social-marketing/ .

Thank you, admin, for this enlightening article on blogging resources. Yes, I have a wordpress.com blog but I don't have my own domain name yet. Without a domain name in the next couple of months, will I have no hope of getting good traffic, assuming for the sake of argument, that I have succeeded in coming up with really good content?
