I like the new look, it really does spice things up without overdoing it.  It has a fresh and clean look that allows the white background to do good things for the eyes.

The left hand side bar is pleasing too.  Good job William, this is nice!

Two thumbs up from Tiffany Grin

If you're talking about the new theme for the forum, I don't like it at all. one quarter of my screen is full of useless stuff "IM University logo" My pic etc.

My first reaction is; it's harder to navigate around in. With the old theme, every time I came here I would check for "new replies to my posts" then "New posts since last visit"  I don't see how to do that with this theme

Duane, I do understand your dislikes.  The left hand sidebar is where the "extra" navigation information is located.

At the header area or top of the forum area is where the main navigation links are located: It displays where you're currently at in the forum.

It is the left hand sidebar where you'll find the extra hidden navigations such as: The amount of messages you have, picture, total time logged in, button for unread posts since last visit, the button for unread replies to your post, and last but not least the unsightly over bulging logo.

Since I don't have a picture in this forum, my picture is not on the left, BUT because of the "informatic theme by Bloc" logo, it does cause the links to not show for the unread posts since last visit, and unread replies link.  Since I could hover over these links and see what they were, it allowed me to overlook the inconvenience.

William if there was a way to get rid of the logo, or move it out of the way of the links then I think Duane and others would be able to warm up to the new theme a little more.

Change can be good, but not always so easy to get used to.

Good eye Duane.

Hey Tiffany,
I guess my problem is, for some reason the "Informatic" logo is over the links to "posts since last visit" and "replies to posts since last visit"
I don't know if that's because I do have a picture or because I'm using Firefox. If it't because of Firefox, a lot of people, including Gina, won't like it.

I just discovered that, if I go to full screen, everything falls in place as it should. Better, but I don't like to be in full screen mode all the time because I often change from one tab to another, open other things from my toolbars, etc.

I can't see the Firefox toolbar when I'm in full screen. That's where I have mybloglog, Twitter and a lot of other stuff.

WHOA!!

It is unlike any other forum layout I have been on and I must say 5:30 in the morning the shock knocked the sleep out of my eyes!

Not sure, but I could warm up to it. It is clean and I like that.

I too am in Firefox and the only way to see the left panel completely is in full screen (F11) as it doesn't scroll as the right panel does

Possibly resizing the LOGO (much smaller) will bring the bottom of the left panel into perspective as well allowing the BODY to be complete, as it is now the very right side of the page is somewhat cut off.

Two major flaws IMHO is that I can't check out the details of the 'poster' and I have to go F11 to log out (but this one will resolve with logo issue)

Would you call this Web 2.0? It is forward thinking and lends itself to the new dramatic way of doing online marketing with the GINA_BLOG METHOD

Cheers

Hi Guys

I think the new look is great. Like John, it stopped me in my tracks when I logged in this morning - we had no warning this was coming.

I find the navigation much better.

I use Firefox too and I don't see any of the problems you guys report. I have a feeling you're using quite a small screen running at a low resolution (640 x 480 or 800 x 600). I have a 22 inch widescreen monitor running at 1680 x 1050 and everything fits on the screen perfectly. But I can see where difficulties would arise with smaller, lower resolution screens.

I vote to keep the new look... providing these problems you guys are experiencing can be worked out (or worked round).

Regards

Holy CARP Lance!

I got a 22" monitor a few months ago and never thought to change the screen size. I had a 17" set at 1028x768 and because I was nearly blind from cataracts I never realized how much more I could see after the double surgery.

I just increased to your setting of 1680x1050 and with my new eyes I can see so much more, my "scroller" muscle is going to get a rest now for sure!

And William, I notice now my earlier  comment about the 'incomplete' right side of screen was in error as the design leaves 'boxes' unfinished.

Cheers

I'd just like to add that the left hand sidebar looks perfect now for me in firefox without using the full screen mode.

I can see everything now, the home, my messages, and logout information.  I could not see that before.  Looks like the logo is smaller so it makes everything work out over there except for the date...the last 2 is missing on the May 22, but not a problem, I know what the date is.

It already looks better William!

I LOVE  the new layout - different, but far more 'modern' and definitely cooler...

Hi William,

I don't like the new design at all. Sad I find it too hard to read, it gives me eye strain because the grey scale lettering is too light on a white background.
I use I.E. 7.0 or whatever the latest version is and I have a 17" flat LCD monitor which is in full screen mode with appropriate settings. I've also tried changing my font settings in order to display this better without success.

The various areas under the "old" design were separated and spaced out in a very pleasing manor with borders around the different sections whereas this "new" setup leaves me in major confusion as to where to look to find things now.

I don't mean to sound harsh but as someone who is new to both IM and forums this kind of change in format is not desirable in my opinion. The phrase " if it ain't broke don't fix it" comes to mind and I can only suggest that perhaps you might want to try doing changes in a pure test environment first before springing it on the unsuspecting subscribers in the forum.

Thanks for listening,
Cindy
